Uttar Pradesh has become a key state in India’s solar manufacturing and deployment ecosystem. The state ranks second nationally in solar module manufacturing capacity, with around 11.5 GW and 11 ALMM-listed module units, supported by major investments and a growing shift toward TOPCon technology. Uttar Pradesh is also the third-largest solar power producer in the country, driven by state-led programmes and strong rooftop adoption. Under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, rooftop solar installations are increasing steadily, with a target of 8 lakh homes by 2027. Together, rising manufacturing capacity and rooftop deployment are placing Uttar Pradesh alongside Gujarat and Rajasthan as an important contributor to India’s domestic solar supply chain and clean energy goals.

In 2025, Maharashtra stands out as one of India’s most rapidly growing solar hubs, not only in deployment but also in manufacturing. The state’s cumulative solar installations have reached nearly 15 GW across utility-scale and distributed segments, supported by a strong surge in rooftop additions. At the same time, Maharashtra is emerging as a key player in India’s solar manufacturing sector, with major commitments such as an INR 10,900-crore integrated wafer-to-module facility in Nagpur’s Butibori industrial belt, part of a broader INR 15,600-crore manufacturing investment wave signed recently. With rising investments in solar-plus-storage systems, EV charging infrastructure, and grid-strengthening solutions, Maharashtra’s expanding clean-energy ecosystem makes Nagpur the ideal host for a dedicated dialogue on solar, storage, mobility, and the future of decentralised renewable energy in India.
